In his recent work 'An Ancient Beacon Still Shining Brightly,' Father Dennis Michelis made the impossible possible: in a little more than four hundred pages, he gaves us a powerful summary of nearly four thousand years of history  of the Greek nation, from its very beginnings with Minoan and Mycenaean civilization to our present day.

Father Dennis does not intend to be exhaustive, especially when it comes to history.  In his introduction, he says: "Events pertaining to wars, political and factional strifes, internecine wars, are briefly treated."  Instead, "it is the timeless achievements of this small country's illustrious men and women in arts and sciences with which this book deals."  The author has certainly accomplished his purpose.
