On a warm fall weekend in 1995 an eleven-year-old girl named Katie visited a monastery of the Eastern Orthodox Church. This is the first time she has ever been to an Orthodox monastery. In this book Katie tells the story of her visit, and she shares her thoughts and feelings about monastic life as she sees it practiced.
Because there are relatively few Orthodox monastic houses outside of the traditional Orthodox countries of Greece, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Lebanon, etc. Orthodox children growing up today in the western world rarely have an opportunity such as Katie’s. We hope this book will not only serve as an introduction to monasticism, but also as an encouragement to visit a monastery.
For enjoyment, a section with games, puzzles and quizzes has been added at the end.
