Holy Bread Cutting Boards
Description
Much like their metal counterparts, the wooden diskos is used to hold the Lamb. It is commonly used during the preparation of the Lamb during the proskomidi as it is cut and removed from the prosfora. It is also used at Holy Communion as the Lamb is divided and prepared to be put into the chalice and consumed. It serves as an extension of the main, metal diskos, and is used whenever the priest needs to make cuts into the Lamb. The priest will transfer the parts of the Lamb which need to be cut to the wooden one before being put back onto the main one. That way, the main diskos will not have cut marks in it, nor will the spear make noise as it cuts through the Lamb. It has a slot carved out of the edge so that the priest or deacon can easily and reverently transfer the pieces of the Lamb into the chalice after they are done making their cuts.
